Michael Assouline

MD, PhD

Dr. Assouline is one of the most acknowledged French experts in refractive surgery of cataract, myopia, presbyopia and keratoconus. He was one of the founders of the Vision Clinic in Paris, in 1998. He has been a pioneer in the field of Lasik (myopia, presbyopia) and keratoconus surgery in France. Dr. Assouline is also one of the international pioneers of ``premium`` implants for cataract surgery. Since 2000, he has been the president of the French association InCLO ``Innovations in Ophthalmic Surgery and Lasers”. In 2010 he founded the Centre IénaVision Ophthalmology in Paris. He was the editor of the professional journal ``Ophthalmologies`` until 2010. Over the last 20 years, Dr. Assouline has given more than 400 communications, lectures, or live surgical demonstrations in 54 countries. He has authored or coauthored 5 theses and dissertations, 35 international scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, 150 professional articles and 24 book chapters. Dr Assouline is an expert consultant of Medicontur Medical Engineering Ltd.

Carlos Naval

MD

Dr. Carlos Naval, MD graduated from UP college of Medicine, and Ateneo Graduate School of business, Philippines. Dr Naval is a consultant for ophthalmology at Cardinal Santos Medical Centre and our Lady of Lourdes hospital. He is the Medical Director of the Galileo SurgiCenter, Manila, Philippines. Dr Naval is the former president of the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology and he is the vice-president of the Philippine Society of Cataract Refractive Surgery and he is a member of the international cataract and refractive surgery societies. He published several articles and editorials. One of his ongoing researches is about post-operative outcomes of patients with premium PC-IOLs. He was awarded a gold medal in MBA (health) Ateneo Graduate School of Business (2010) and Outstanding Alumnus UP-PGH Department of Ophthalmology and Visual science (2011).

Prof. Sathish Srinivasan

MD, FRCSEd, FRCOphth, FACS

Professor Srinivasan is a consultant corneal surgeon and joint clinical director at the University Hospital in Ayr, Scotland. He completed his Ophthalmology residency in the Aravind Eye Hospital in India, and went for higher surgical training to the St. Paul’s Eye Unit of the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, UK. Later he won a two year clinical fellowship in Cornea, External Diseases and Refractive Surgery in the the University of Toronto, Canada. His main fields of professional interest are lamellar corneal surgery, micro incision cataract surgery and anterior segment reconstruction. He has published over 85 papers in peerreviewed journals, has held over 60 scientific presentations at national and international congresses. He is a recipient of the Achievement Award and International Scholar Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In 2012 he was awarded the Honorary Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons, and is the associate editor of the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Chan Young Im

MD

Doctor Im is a well-appreciated cataract and refractive surgeon from Seoul, South-Korea. He is the founder and medical director of the Ian Eye Centre in Seoul. He graduated from Yonsei University, Seoul, and started his carrier in the Ophthalmological Department at the local University Hospital. Later he gained experience in clinics in Japan and the United Kingdom. He is the member of several national and international professional associations (ASCRS, AMA, KSO), and also the Korean Boards of Ophthalmology and – Optometry. Apart from educating foreign medical graduates, he is an experienced presenter and the author of numerous professional publications. His main research interests include corneal diseases, 3D virtual surgery, pterygium treatment, phakic intraocular lens implantation and minimal invasive cataract surgery.

Alexandra Kontur, MD, PhD

Dr. Alexandra Kontur graduated in 1996 from the Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. From 1996 to 2006 Dr. Kontur worked for the Department of Ophthalmology of the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University and specialized in the field of inflammatory eye diseases. She conducted research work at the Department of Medical Chemistry and Clinical Biochemistry of the Medical Faculty and focused on oxidative damage of the retina and crystalline lens under oxidative stress. She has authored and co-authored several scientific publications and books focused on uveitis, which were repeatedly awarded by the Czech Society of Ophthalmology as best published clinical paper. Her clinical paper “Diagnosis and treatment of intraocular lymphoma” was cited best worldwide clinical paper during the 2006 WOC in Sao Paulo. As the scientific director at Medicontur Medical Engineering, Dr. Alexandra Kontur has been leading clinical studies and clinical symposiums, enhancing the scientific department of the company since 2010.
